Privacy Policy

Comparadise is a small, independently run product. This page describes exactly what we store, why we store it, and who else sees it. We don't run advertising, we don't use analytics or tracking scripts, and we don't sell or share your data with anyone for marketing purposes.

What we collect

Account

Your email address and a hashed version of your password. We never store the password itself and cannot recover it. We also record when your account was created, last modified, and when you verified your email address.

Your comparisons

The comparisons you create, the product pages you ask us to extract, the information extracted from them, the columns you define, and the order you arrange things in. We keep a history of edits made to cells, columns and comparisons so that changes can be attributed and undone.

Sharing

If you create a share link, we store the link and a record of which signed-in users opened it, along with the time they did. We do not log IP addresses against share links.

Billing

Payments are handled entirely by Stripe. Card details never reach our servers. We store your subscription status and the Stripe identifiers needed to keep it in sync.

Newsletter and feedback

If you subscribe to the newsletter we store your email address and nothing else. If you send feedback we store your message and, where relevant, which comparison it referred to.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies, all of them functional. There are no advertising or analytics cookies, and no third-party trackers on any page.

  • access_token and refresh_token — keep you signed in. Set as HttpOnly, so scripts on the page cannot read them.
  • theme — remembers whether you chose light or dark mode.
  • comparison_id — remembers the last comparison you opened, so we can take you back to it when you return.

The browser extension

The Comparadise extension for Chrome and Firefox does not track your browsing. It reads the address of the tab you are currently viewing, and only at the moment you open the extension and press Extract Product. That address is sent to Comparadise so the page can be extracted into the comparison you selected. Nothing is read from pages you don't explicitly submit, and no browsing history is collected, stored or transmitted.

Your sign-in tokens are kept in the browser's own extension storage on your device so you don't have to log in every time. Signing out removes them. The extension requests only two permissions: activeTab, for the address of the current tab, and storage, for those tokens.

Who else processes your data

We rely on a handful of external services to make the product work. Each one only receives what it needs:

OpenRouter

Runs the language model that turns a product page into structured fields. It receives the content of the page you asked us to extract — not your account details.

Exa

Used to find comparable products. It receives search terms derived from the products in your comparison.

Stripe

Handles subscriptions and payment details. Governed by Stripe's own privacy policy.

Google (Gmail)

Delivers transactional email — verification, password resets and the newsletter. It receives your email address.

Cloudflare

Sits in front of the site to provide DNS and TLS. Requests to comparadise.io pass through it.

Everything else — your account, your comparisons and the database itself — lives on a server we operate ourselves in the EU. We do not sell your data or pass it to advertisers, data brokers or anyone else.

Keeping and deleting data

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. Deleted comparisons are first marked as deleted so they can be restored if you change your mind, and are removed permanently afterwards. We take nightly backups of the database, so deleted data may persist in a backup for up to two weeks before those backups rotate out.

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email we send. To delete your account and everything in it, write to us at the address below and we'll take care of it.

Your rights

If you are in the EU or UK, the GDPR gives you the right to see the data we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, to receive a copy in a portable form, and to object to how we process it. We'll honour any of these on request, free of charge, regardless of where you live. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.

Security

All traffic to Comparadise is encrypted over HTTPS. Passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes and are never logged or transmitted in readable form. Session cookies are HttpOnly and restricted to secure connections. No system is perfectly secure, but if we ever become aware of a breach affecting your data, we'll tell you.

Contact

Questions about any of this, or a request about your data, can go to [email protected]. If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top of the page, and we'll let you know by email if the change is significant.
